GigaSpaces Delivers IT Infrastructure to Protogen Clients in Australia

GigaSpaces Technologies, a provider of application platforms for Java and .Net environments, and Protogen Technologies of Sydney have announced their tie-up to bring high-speed processing and linear scalability to Australian companies with GigaSpaces (News - Alert) eXtreme Application Platform (XAP).

The main advantage of XAP is that it enables organizations to perform high-volume transactions with low latency while linearly scaling automatically. XAP is an enterprise-grade, end-to-end in-memory application server for deploying and dynamically scaling distributed applications. XAP also allows enterprises to cost-effectively develop and operate their business-critical applications – both within the data center or on the cloud.

The deal between GigaSpaces and Protogen is especially helpful for financial segment. Financial sector applications need to process huge amount of data from a number of sources in real-time to make better decisions, achieve a competitive edge and customer satisfaction, and comply with growing regulation for best trade execution.

“No other major players on the market can offer the depth and wealth of features and services GigaSpaces delivers out-of-the-box,” said Omer Ingber, director of Protogen, in a statement. “GigaSpaces as a partner fits very well with the verticals we are dealing with, especially financial services and distribution logistics.”

“Protogen and GigaSpaces combine to provide our best-of-breed technology to Australian business,” said Adi Paz (News - Alert), GigaSpaces executive vice president of Marketing and Business Development. “Because XAP is a complete platform, Protogen’s clients quickly realize RoI with efficient processing and by optimizing their hardware utilization.”

Reason for selecting XAP to work with Protogen Technologies' clients is its ability to support key enterprise languages, such as Java, C++, and .Net, as well as GigaSpaces' long-term ease of operations such as complete monitoring capabilities and automatic backup and failover in case of hardware failure.

XAP can support any application combination, while it enables Protogen’s clients to own their infrastructure while allowing any technology from any vendor to “sit on top,” according to company officials.

Recently, GigaSpaces Technologies announced a new solution for the private cloud geared for network and data-driven applications. As part of this initiative, GigaSpaces has joined hands with Cisco (News - Alert) to provide a solution that enables UCS users to maximize the advantages of their UCS.

The new joint solution will enable enterprises to run their existing mission-critical, memory-intensive applications with performance and resource utilization improved by an order of magnitude, according to company officials.
