Chorus to Deploy NetCracker's Workforce Management Solution
TMCnet Contributing Editor
NetCracker (News - Alert), a Global Solutions company, has announced that Chorus, the network business for Telecom New Zealand (News - Alert), is set to deploy NetCracker’s Workforce Management Solution. This implementation is expected to help Chorus to manage disparate parts of its operations as it improves overall business process efficiencies, delivers a higher level of automation and increases customer satisfaction.
The company builds and maintains the copper and fiber access network and makes the network available to other telecommunications providers. Chorus is also responsible for installing and repairing phone and broadband connections.
An established record of success is shared by NetCracker and Telecom. The provider selected NetCracker's OSS suite in June of 2008 to speed the delivery of innovative services and the rapid expansion of the operator’s next-generation network. With this new contract, Chorus will use NetCracker’s Workforce Management Solutions to deliver a centralized view of Telecom’s manpower operations.

“NetCracker is an important partner with proven technology and delivery capabilities,” Ewen Powell, Chorus’ Technology Director, said. “Workforce Management is a natural extension to the solutions they currently provide to our company.”
With this workforce management solution, Chorus will enjoy a centralized view of the workforce; plan and manage short- and long-term work activities; enable comprehensive management of the work order lifecycle with extensive reporting and escalation management capabilities; facilitate cross-domain data exchange for fulfillment, field service and service assurance operations; enable business process monitoring; and minimize redundant or unnecessary customer visits.

The primary goal for Chorus was to deploy a workforce management solution that would meet both the business and regulatory requirements and obligations of Chorus.
“We have enjoyed a successful partnership with Telecom and are involved in a true transformation of their network and business,” Andrew Feinberg, president and CEO of NetCracker Technology, said. “The opportunity to help streamline workforce operations further expands our relationship, and we are looking forward to delivering continued value and success.”
Earlier this year, NetCracker announced it was participating in a meeting during the Next-Generation Telecoms Europe Middle East and Africa summit to discuss the state of the telecom industry in this down economy.
In May, the TM Forum (News - Alert), an association focused on improving business effectiveness for service providers and their suppliers, partnered with NetCracker for a project that includes a survey on the impact of the economic downturn on the communications industry.
