Halcyon Makes a Bold Move with the Acquisition of Snapshot

The industry has witnessed yet another major acquisition with Halcyon Software gaining its hold on Snapshot technology formerly owned by Melbourne, Australia based Mid-Comp International Pty Ltd.

Snapshot, which specializes in performance and message management is a well known name for systems management in the IBM (News - Alert) i (iSeries) community. The Snapshot has a presence across the continents and its international clients are spread in many countries of the US, Europe and Asia Pacific.



Halcyon specializes in multi-platform systems management solutions which support IBM mid-range systems, including IBM i, AIX as well as Windows, UNIX and Linux platforms.

Halycon management is very optimistic about the acquisition as they believe, Snapshot system management solutions will add value to their portfolio supporting IBM i.

Halcyon Software Holdings CEO, Lorraine Cousins commented, "We are delighted to add the Snapshot products to our extensive portfolio supporting IBM i. We are offering our assurances to all existing Snapshot customers that we will continue to provide technical support for the Snapshot products and customers will not experience any increase in their fees for this service. As a Halcyon customer you have the reassurance that our solutions are compatible with the latest hardware technology from IBM".

Halcyon Software has earned reputation in the market for supporting IBM i platform and this is what makes it the ideal owner of Snapshot technology.

In addition of supporting, IBM enterprise class systems, including the IBM i and AIX, Halcyon solutions support Windows, UNIX and Linux platforms as well. Halcyon Software is used for reducing the complexity of systems monitoring and automation. According to Halcyon, its solutions can deliver real ROI by automating 100 percent of routine tasks to free up valuable resources, reduce operating costs and minimize the risk of human error.

Just a couple of days back, Halcyon Software, Inc. has released a new version of its flagship solution--- Operations Center v3.0--- for the monitoring and automation of IBM i, and Network Server Suite v7.1, the latest version of a solution that provides native monitoring of AIX, Windows, and now Linux environments as well as web-fronted business applications.

Neither of the parties however disclosed the terms of the deal.
