Cisco and its professional services partner The Frame Group have reportedly helped the Melbourne airport modernize and digitize its operations.

 

Cisco (News - Alert) business video and mobility technology and will also aid in the airport’s objective to make travelling seamless and efficient for both airlines and passengers, according to a news release.

 

Distinguished by its passenger growth, having surpassed 5 million international passengers in a 12-month period, the airport envisions a state-of-the-art airport that will ensure the long-term growth of airline services in Melbourne. The Cisco technologies will also help them adapt to future increase in passenger capacity and generate new revenue streams for airport tenants.

 

The Frame Group designed and rolled out solutions from Cisco to help the Melbourne airport’s plans to streamline operations and provide efficient passenger processing experience to millions of fliers every year.

 

The Cisco Digital Media suite is a comprehensive offering of social video, digital signage and IPTV (News - Alert) systems. The Cisco Digital Media Signage is featured on more than 400 flight information displays in the Melbourne Airport, and will aid the sharing of up-to-date flight and gate information, news, directional guidance and emergency messaging in arrival and departure areas and other locations where passengers need it most in the new international terminal and, in the future, inside the entire airport.

 

The airport can enhance the customer experience, deliver wide communications and training, and boost sales with the network-based Cisco digital signage system. The solutions will also help the airport to consume 80 percent less power than its previous PC-based solution.

 

The Cisco Unified Wireless Network with 802.11n technology provides outdoor wireless access points at each of the gates in the new international terminal. As airplanes approach the gate, airline pilots can use it to exchange info and communicate with flight controllers more securely and quickly.

 

Cisco Unified Communications solution will allow airline flight personnel to log in to any of the more than 800 Cisco Unified IP Phones located at each gate and around the airport to access their personalized profile and remain connected throughout the airport.
