Software company CA (News - Alert) Technologies (formerly Computer Associates) announced this week that it has acquired Torokina Networks, a Sydney, Australia-based consultancy that helps Asia-Pacific-based communications service providers (CSPs) manage their networks. The specific terms of the relationship were not revealed.
CA plans to use Torokina's expertise and tools to expand its support of CSPs, especially those offering 3G, 4G and Long Term Evolution (LTE (News - Alert)) mobile technologies. CA will offer more systems support in the areas of application performance management, infrastructure management and service operations management, according to IDG News.
“Combining the technology and expertise from Torokina with our existing service assurance solutions, CA Technologies (News - Alert) can now offer one-stop shopping for CSPs to help them ensure optimized services and network availability to customers and internal users,” said Christopher Cook, a service assurance general manager for CA Technologies.
Torokina provides clients with specialized resources and consulting services to assist them in maximizing their existing investments in network hardware, software and management systems. It evaluates the use, configuration and suitability of clients' assets, and either provides recommendations for change, or implements configuration and process changes.
The two companies are not new to one another. Prior to the acquisition of Torokina by CA, the two companies had previously partnered on various projects to support CSPs. Torokina has built up an expertise in the service management software originally offered by Oblicore (News - Alert), which CA purchased a year ago.
Employees of Torokina Networks will be merged into CA Technologies' Service Assurance business.
