Australia : NEXTGEN Networks joined by Former AAPT CEO [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Previous AAPT CEO, David Yuile, has been selected managing director of Nextgen Networks.

A Nextgen Networks spokesperson said that the managing director role is a newly created one.

Yuile left AAPT in February 2014 after TPG finished its $450 million acquisition of AAPT from Telecom New Zealand. He had been with AAPT for 7 years.

As per to Nextgen Group CEO, Peter McGrath, the appointment of Yuile was made to increase the company s capability in the areas of high speed networks, data centre outsourcing and cloud services.

He said, We see exciting growth opportunities for the group as our corporate, government and carrier customers look to utilise our services to support their own businesses with demands for high speed, secure networking .

McGrath added that its network upgrade to 100 gigabits per second (Gbps) dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) technology is almost complete.

In July 2013, Nexten Group upgraded 12,300km of its longhaul fibre network to support 100Gbps transmission speeds.

Nextgen said that the deployment marked the completion of the first phase of Nexgen s plan to upgrade its entire backhaul network to 100Gbps. The upgrade will provide 18Tb/s of new capacity for Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.

In March this year the company dexclared that consumers living in areas of Victoria between Warrnambool and Geelong would receive access to Nextgen Group s optical fibre network following a partnership between the vendor and the Victorian government.

The Victorian government started the project so as to open up the state's telecommunications network to competition.

Nextgen Group director of government practice Charlie Sutherland at the time said that it will provide wholesale services to other carriers for the provision of broadband or mobile services.
