Australia,New Zealand : TELECOM, VODAFONE and TELSTRA in NEW ZEALAND set up USD60m fiber-optic cable [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) New Zealand's Telecom, Vodafone and Telstra have set up a USD60 million undersea fiber-optic cable.

According to the three telecommunications companies, the internet-powering cable is designed to link the country with Australia. It is scheduled to complete by the end of 2014.

Capacity of the cable is 30 terabits per second, nearly 300 times New Zealand's data requirements. Hopefully, the cable would provide sufficient capacity for the nearly twenty years.

The companies further added that the new cable would strengthen New Zealand's slow internet speed as well as boost the economy.
