4G International Roaming between Telstra and Hong Kong live

Jan 16, 2013 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- Telstra 4G customers will now be able to access high-speed 4G mobile services while travelling in Hong Kong with the launch of 4G international roaming between Telstra and Hong Kong CSL.

Mike Wright, Executive Director Networks and Access Technologies said the launch of 4G International Roaming means that Telstra 4G customers travelling in Hong Kong will experience faster data speeds compared to the current Telstra 3G International Roaming service.

"This introduction means Telstra 4G customers visiting Hong Kong will experience improved service when using features such as video streaming, surfing the net or downloading large files on their mobile device wherever CSL has 4G coverage," said Mr Wright.

"Telstra was the first operator to introduce a 4G LTE mobile network in Australia and with this service we will become the first local operator to offer 4G LTE international roaming for customers." Pricing for 4G international roaming remains the same as the current 3G offering.

Mr Wright said Telstra is working on similar agreements with operators in other countries, with compatible 4G wireless broadband networks.

"We're pleased by this offering and the opportunities it presents for our customers. The international roaming experience of seamlessly transitioning onto the CSL network will continue, but with greater speeds and functionality", Mr Wright said.

Paul Hodges, Executive Vice President Corporate Wholesale and International Services, CSL Limited, said that he was pleased that the CSL 4G network would be able to carry visiting Telstra customers' mobile data traffic.

"I'm also pleased that CSL customers travelling in Australia will be able to roam onto Telstra's 4G network, in each capital city CBD and in a number of regional locations," Mr Hodges said.

"The 4G LTE International Roaming agreement with Telstra is a further step to 4G becoming a mature mobile network technology," said Mr Hodges.
