GLENTEL Business Division Grows with Multiple Large Million-Dollar Projects to Start 2013

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 31 December 2012 Release date- 27122012 - Burnaby, British Columbia - GLENTEL Inc. (TSX: GLN) Business Division continues its growth by signing four major contracts to start the 2013 year.

Contracts include a $6 million project with The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville that will help upgrade the region's fire services communications system, a multimillion-dollar Manufacturers Rep Agreement (MR) with Motorola to upgrade security systems for the federal government, a $2.1 million joint venture with Tait Communications to improve emergency services communications for residents of Yellowknife, and a $1 million communications project at Jansen Lake mine in Saskatchewan, which is slated to be the world's largest potash mine.

'These successful multiple projects show the Business Division's specialized expertise in providing turnkey private network communications solutions for our diverse customers from government, public safety and mining,' stated Cary Skidmore, GLENTEL's Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer.

The $6 million dollar project with Leeds and Grenville will upgrade the region's fire departments' original analogue equipment with state of the art and reliable digital voice and paging communications systems using Motorola's mobile radio P-25 solution.

The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville project, the single largest contract in the Business Division's history, will allow for more reliable service by individual fire departments and first responders. The new system will include a Global Positioning System (GPS) locator that will help keep track of first responder vehicles and identify locations of fires.

Under the $2.1 million radio network agreement between the city of Yellowknife and Tait Communications, GLENTEL will be responsible for replacing and consolidating three existing radio systems used by individual departments into one centralized communications system. This will help emergency personnel address increasing demand for services by upgrading their voice and data equipment.

This upgrade will be crucial in responding to any type of emergency from first responders/ambulance to a larger-scaled emergency. Extreme cold weather in Yellowknife, which is known to compromise the safety of its citizens, is the catalyst for this centralized communications system.

Under the multimillion-dollar Manufacturers Rep Agreement (MR) with Motorola, the largest MR in Canadian history, GLENTEL will focus on the deployment, installation and servicing of the security upgrade for the Government of Canada. Motorola will be the primary driver of the $10 million contract, which will see the partnership install and distribute a new antenna system to help aid in public safety.

Australian miner BHP Billiton Ltd. is developing the world's largest potash mine, estimated at a cost of $14 billion. GLENTEL will be responsible for building the towers and installing a MotoTRBO solution, a digital Motorola 2-way radio voice and data communications system. The initial phase represents the first of four mines to be developed on the above portion of the mine. The potash deposit is believed to be the size of the city of Montreal.
