Optus slims down to grow brand
Dec 09, 2012 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) --
The distribution network of Singtel Optus is being reduced via the cancellation of contracts with third-party retailers, in order to gain more control and to cut costs. The telco's mobile telephony products will no longer be sold via the Allphone, Telechoice or BoostMobile businesses, with the Allphones alliance ending in August 2013. Optus has grown its mobile subscribers base by 824,000 in 2010-11 and 2012-12 combined, maintaining market share at 32%. It is also overhauling its web site to make it more mobile-friendly.
