Canvas Chooses Sydney for Pacific Rim Headquarters

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Reston, VA (PRWEB) December 04, 2012 Canvas, the global leader in mobile apps for businesses, is pleased to announce the company’s first international office will open this month in Sydney, Australia. Canvas identified the Pacific Rim as a key component to the company’s aggressive growth strategy, and the optimal launching pad for the firm’s expanding global initiatives.

“We have many customers already in Australia, including hundreds of small businesses and larger enterprises who are using Canvas’ business apps to replace inefficient and expensive paper forms,” says James Quigley, the company’s founder and Chief Executive Officer. “We look forward to expanding our content and partner efforts even further with the addition of a regional team here in New South Wales.” In addition to staffing the office with local content and business development talent, Canvas plans to hire customer support personnel in Sydney, which will allow the US-based company to offer 24/7 customer support for its thousands of global customers.

New South Wales Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade & Investment Andrew Stoner said the New South Wales Government welcomed Canvas’ decision to locate their Asia Pacific regional headquarters in Sydney. “This investment will create 25 new full-time and 10 part-time jobs over the next three years and help contribute to the State’s growing reputation as Australia’s digital and ICT hub.” Stoner added: “Canvas provides a platform for innovation in the mobile application space, which is revolutionising a number of industries important to our State economy including education, healthcare and professional services, and we are excited to welcome them to Sydney and to New South Wales.” Canvas will formally announce their Pacific Rim expansion on December 6 at “Alphabetica,” an exhibition of typographers, artists and illustrators from around the world who have collaborated to create their unique interpretation of a single letter of the alphabet. Visitors to this exhibit will be checked-in using a Canvas mobile app and any prints that are sold at the three-day event will generate a real-time invoice using Canvas. All proceeds from the event will go to Dandelion Support Network, a not-for-profit organization that provides baby equipment to less fortunate families in the area.

“We greatly appreciate Canvas’ sponsorship and support of this event,” says Rachael Stott, one of Dandelion’s co-founders. “It’s wonderful to see a successful technology company that also demonstrates compassion for people in the communities in which they operate.” One of Australia’s largest property developers, Mirvac Homes NSW, uses Canvas for new home construction safety and environment management including task observations, inspection and instruction. “The Canvas mobile apps we've developed at Mirvac have allowed us to save time and share more accurate data – all from the field in real-time,” says Isabelle Palaster, HSE Administrator Homes (NSW).
