Exclusive Skylanders Figure Available in Skylanders Cloud Patrol Game on Kindle Fire Starting This Weekend
SEATTLE & SANTA MONICA, Calif. --(Business Wire)--
Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) and Activision (News - Alert) Publishing, Inc., a wholly
owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATVI),
today announced that an exclusive version of the Skylanders Giants
character, Flameslinger, will be available for purchase through
the Skylanders Cloud Patrol game for Kindle Fire starting
November 11. Given Amazon's global fulfillment network and rich
experience as an online retailer, the company is in a unique position to
be able to offer gamers doorstep delivery of physical items they
purchase in-game. Amazon customers who purchase the figure while playing Skylanders
Cloud Patrol on Kindle Fire will also immediately unlock the
digital character for in-game play on Kindle Fire.
Additional Skylanders figures are currently available for purchase
through Skylanders Cloud Patrol on Kindle Fire. Each time a new
figure is purchased from within the game, a digital character is
unlocked free of charge. The exclusive Flameslinger is available for a
limited time beginning November 11, through Skylanders
Cloud Patrol on Kindle Fire HD or on Amazon.com,
for $9.99 and ships for free with Amazon Prime.
"The Skylanders Spyro's Adventure and Skylanders Giants
games have become wildly popular with our customers, and we're excited
to offer this exclusive toy from the series," said Mike Frazzini,
Director of Games at Amazon. "Even more so, we're thrilled about the
opportunity to offer the first physical item ever sold in-app or
in-game. Amazon is in a unique position to be able to deliver physical
goods directly to customers' doorsteps, so you can imagine the
possibilities this opens up for developers and customers in the future."
"This franchise is unique in that it merges both a digital gaming
experience with a physical toy collecting experience, and offers more
than 30 characters from which to choose," said John Coyne, Consumer
Marketing Vice President at Activision. "The Skylanders Cloud Patrol game
gives Kindle Fire users a fun, and easily accessible, mobile gaming
experience."
Skylanders Cloud Patrol is a mobile gaming experience set in a
new region of Skylands that has been overrun by the evil minions of
Portal Master, Kaos. With dozens of Skylanders available to unlock, the
game lets players take command of a magnificent sky-ship and use their
favorite Skylander to dispatch the baddies using touch gestures to
tap-and-shoot or swipe the screen to create amazing combos.
Purchasing the toy on Kindle Fire is simple. Each day, a unique
Skylanders toy is featured in the Gold Box (News - Alert), found in the top right-hand
corner of the main screen when customers first launch the game. The
Amazon exclusive Flameslinger will be featured in the Gold Box every
weekend throughout November while supplies last, starting November 11th.
Other characters are available daily through the same Gold Box
experience. Customers can use Amazon's trusted 1-Click Purchasing,
giving them immediate access to the digital character with one click
while the physical toy is shipped to them.
